Today, on Superman Day (June 12), we celebrate the greatest hero ever to wear a cape and save a salad: Superpig. Faster than a speeding lettuce leaf, more powerful than a vacuum cleaner on cage-cleaning day, and able to detect the crinkle of a veggie bag from three rooms away, Superpig is always ready when duty calls.

The original Superman comic series debuted on this day in 1939, following the character's groundbreaking first appearance in Action Comics No. 1 in June 1938. As mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent, he lived a double life as the mighty Superman—the world's first true superhero and the model for generations of heroes to come.
