In honor of International Sow’s Day (March 8), guinea pigs everywhere are celebrating their contributions to the herd with extra hay, louder wheeking, and absolutely no tolerance for empty food bowls.

Inspired by the long tradition of International Women’s Day, which began in the early 20th century as a day recognizing women’s achievements and expanding opportunities, today’s sows are proudly taking the carrot-shaped microphone.

While humans spent decades advocating for education, fair work, and equal participation in society, guinea pigs focus on equally important issues such as Equal Hay Rights, fair distribution of parsley, and the universal right to interrupt dinner with enthusiastic wheeks. Let your whistle be heard, ladies!

As every experienced guinea pig knows, history may remember great speeches and marches—but real progress begins the moment a determined sow stands up on her hind legs and declares: “WHEEK CAN DO IT!”
