Christmas Shopping Time
It's Christmas Carol Season! Wheek it, Piggies! "Silver Bells"! 🐹 🤍 🤍 💛 🤍 💛 🔔 🔔 🔔 🥕
Don't you wish you could have a piggy friend accompany you on your holiday shopping excursions on those city sidewalks? If only ..
"🎶 City sidewalks, busy sidewalks.
Dressed in holiday style
In the air there’s a feeling
of Christmas
Children laughing
People passing
Meeting smile after smile
and on every street corner
You’ll hear
(Chorus)
Silver bells, silver bells
It’s Christmas time in the city
Ring-a-ling, hear them sing
Soon it will be Christmas day"
.
“Silver Bells” was written in 1950 by Jay Livingston and Ray Evans for the film The Lemon Drop Kid. Originally (and unfortunately) titled “Tinkle Bells,” the name was quickly changed after Livingston’s wife pointed out its unintended meaning!
Unlike many carols rooted in rural imagery, “Silver Bells” captures the bustle of city Christmases—storefront lights, street-corner bells, and holiday crowds—which helped it become a lasting seasonal classic.
Wheek! Wheek!
