In 1884, Coney Island's famous Switchback Railway carried thrill seekers at a hair-raising 6 mph for five cents a ride.

Today, the world's tallest roller coaster is Falcon's Flight at Six Flags Qiddiya City in Saudi Arabia. It rises an astonishing 639 feet and reaches 155 mph!

From 6 mph to 155 mph in about 140 years.
