For generations, lucky pennies have been viewed as tiny signs of good fortune. The old rhyme, “See a penny, pick it up, all the day you’ll have good luck,” reflects the simple belief that finding even a small unexpected treasure can brighten your day.

Copper itself also carried symbolic meaning long before modern pennies existed. In many ancient cultures, copper was associated with protection, healing, and prosperity. Because copper was linked to the planet Venus, it was also connected with harmony, attraction, and good fortune. People sometimes carried copper coins or objects as charms to ward off illness or bad luck!

In medieval Europe and later folk traditions, finding a coin “heads up” became especially lucky, while a coin found tails up was sometimes thought to carry bad luck unless you flipped it over for the next person.

Fortunately, you never find a piggy with "tails up", so it is most easy to find a good luck piggy. 🤪
