Rock on, Rock Lobsters! It's Your Day ! 🦞 Happy Lobster Day! 🐹 💙 💗 💛 🦞 🥕

Every guinea pig knows that most lobsters are a perfectly sensible mottled greenish-brown, which helps them disappear into the rocky ocean floor.

But every once in a while, genetics throws sensible right overboard.

Rare lobsters have been found in brilliant blue, yellow, orange, calico and even split-colored varieties. A vivid blue lobster—often caused by a genetic difference that results in unusually high levels of a particular protein—is commonly estimated at about one in two million. 💙🦞

Even more extraordinary is the super rare “cotton candy” lobster, with dreamy shades of pale blue, pink and lavender. 🍭🩵 🩷 💜 The odds of finding one are often estimated at around one in 100 million—making a blue lobster seem practically commonplace by comparison!
