Rock 'N Roll Rodent Day

Say Hay, Piggies and Pals! We've got a classic 80s "New Sensation" with Rock 'n Roll Rodent Thursday, INXS, with MIchael HUTCH-ence, and a guinea pig!

What the floof!??
Wheeked to the tune of "Need You Tonight", INXS, Kick, 1987

Scurry on over here, sexy salad-holder (in a whispered wheek)
I wheek you tonight

"🎵 "Scurry on over here, sexy salad-holder (in a whispered wheek)

I wheek you tonight
Cause I'm not eating
So scurry over here
and give me a moment
your veggies are so raw
you've got to let me know
you've got to feed me now
you're one of my guinea-kind!"

Wheek! Wheek!

What the wheek you are asking? Well ...

Australia's New Wave band INXS ("in excess", something guinea pigs know a lot about) and frontman Michael HUTCH-ence's song "Need You Tonight" features Michael seductively singing the opening verse while a white rat climbs all over him. Huh?

To be honest, I only recently noticed the white rat. 😊

Rumour has it that the rat belonged to Michael HUTCH-ence's brother, Rhett HUTCH-ence, was named Plague, and chosen for its wild subconscious rat imagery. Allegedly, the rat even gets a thank you in the albums's Kick, liner notes. Do you have this LP, Piggies & Pals? Can you verify this ratty rumour? Enquiring rodents want to know! 🐀 🐀 🐀

Well, you may not know this but there was another underground cut of this music video which featured a white guinea pig!

Unfortunately, the guinea pig had trouble hanging on and needed frequent carrot breaks, as per the SARG (Screen Actor's Rodent Guild), and thus, the white rat gets all the fame and fennel leaves. 🎬 🐀

RIP Michael HUTCH-ence

9 out of 10 guinea pigs agree - this is more thrilling than 3rd cut Timothy Hay!

Wheek!  Wheek!
