Such a touching ballad ... it whets the apetite and brings a tear to my beady eye! 🤪

Today celebrates one of the world’s oldest and most enchanting instruments — the harp.

Somewhere, surely, a guinea pig bard is plucking the harp and singing a mournful medieval ballad of lost love, lost lettuce, and greens that are no more.

Harps like other stringed instruments can even respond through sympathetic resonance when a nearby sound matches the pitch of one of their strings, so perhaps a sufficiently musical WHEEEEK! really could set a string singing or excite a sympathetic guinea pig into whistling!

Serenade your piggies (or perhaps listen closely as they sing to you, much more likely) and see if you can recognize the plaintive tunes of that neglected masterpiece of the medieval vegetable repertoire: “Green-leaves” — in which the “greens” are lettuce, parsley and assorted salad, and sleeves are completely optional. 🐹 🎵 🥬
