Cream Tea & Gossip Week
It's Cream Tea and Gossip Week, Piggies & Pals! Get that Scuttlebutt! πΉ π 𧑠π π« π« π« π΅ π΅ π΅ π₯
Wheeks and Whispers, Piggies! Get the Down Low, Low-Key, on the QT, delicious gossip, straight from your Hay Rack and Water Bottle Gossiping Guineas!
In honour of Cream Tea (and Gossip) Week, why not get together with your own piggies and pals for an afternoon of lovely finger foods, including cucumber sandwiches (sans bread for piggies), green tea, and the latest scuttlebutt (a definite guinea pig inspired term, in my opinion)!
Of course, it's a good thing the guinea pigs are still mastering human languages because as you know, those pigs know EVERYTHING and ALL YOUR SECRETS!
Although they say it's not nice to gossip about one's friends and frenemies, as it turns out, as social animals, evolutionary scientists believe that exchanging information about other members of a herd helped our ancestors decide who could be trusted, who was likely to share resources, and who might be causing trouble!
Look at these terms for gossiping ... any one of them could clearly have a cavia porcellus influence:
Clishmaclaver β idle gossip, tittle-tattle, nonsense chatter.
Blether β chat, gossip, ramble on at length. ("A good blether over tea.")
Haver β to talk foolishly or endlessly. ("Stop havering!")
Scuttlebutt β gossip or rumor (originally nautical).
Tittle-tattle β trivial gossip.
Prattle β foolish chatter.
Babble β excited, often meaningless talk.
Twaddle β silly nonsense.
Drivel β foolish talk.
Blatherskite β a person who talks at great length without saying much.
Flibbertigibbet β a flighty, overly talkative person.
Quidnunc β a person eager to hear and spread the latest news or gossip.
And despite popular stereotypes, studies suggest that males/boars gossip just as much as females/sows! It is just that the conversation of the boars might be a lot less interesting. π€ͺ π€ͺ π€ͺ
Any constant talkers or gossips - Flibbertigibbets or Quidnuncs - in your cages?
Wheek! Wheek!
