The jury is out as to whether fruitcakes are traditional edible treats or sticky, heavy, inedible pagan building blocks!

Love them or hate them, fruitcakes evoke strong opinions!

Now of course, a homemade and soused fruitcake is a special treat.

However, modern industrial fruitcakes are instantly recognizable by their coloured candied fruit (allegedly, though plastics may be invovled), which may delight the eye but trigger an instinctive scurry response!

If your holiday closet is filled with the "ghosts of fruitcakes past", gifted by well-meaning relatives or cunning frenemies, don't worry! They're still as edible/inedible as they ever were!

Now you could easily regift them (who would know they were last year's model?), but for those who are in a holiday repurposing mood ... anything is possible! 😜 😜 😜
