Celtic Heroes Day
Hay Piggies! It's Celtic Heroes Day! Remember "Finn MacCavy MacCool"! 🐹 💚 💚 💚 🍀 🐉 🌊 🥕
Remember to not antagonize your piggy by being late for snack time! You might get their ancient Irish up!
In the days of yore, when the tides roared against the northern coast of Ireland, the mighty guinea pig hero Finn MacCavy MacCool (known to humans as Fionn mac Cumhaill) stood upon the shore. From across the channel in Scotland came the boasting roar of the fearsome giant (or serpent, your legend may vary) Benandonner, hissing that he would crush any rival who dared face him. What a braggart!
Never one to let a challenge remain unanswered, Finn, in his spare time, built the great basalt causeway of stones, the Giant's Causeway, so the two could meet and have a rumblestrut to settle things.
But when he saw how enormous Benandonner truly was, Finn and his clever mate Oona Piggette hatched a plan. Disguising himself as a baby piglet, Finn let Oona tuck him into a cradle. When Benandonner glimpsed the “infant,” he imagined what size the father must be—and fled home in terror, tearing up the causeway behind him, leaving what we now know.
Those silly serpents are so easy to fool and vanquish! And their anger management issues!
To this day, when the wind howls over those ancient stones, some say you can still hear Finn’s triumphant wheek and chatter echoing across the sea.
Mammals for the win.
Wheek! Wheek!
