"e" Day
Guinea Pig Mathematicians! It's time to escalate exponentially for "e" Day, February 7th! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek! 🐹 🧡 🧡 🧡 🗓️ ➕ ➖ 🟰 📐 ➗ 📏 ✖️ 🥕
While Pi Day gets all the attention next month, the true influencer of the math world is e ≈ 2.718.… known as Euler’s number, the non-repeating constant that quietly shows up whenever things grow smoothly and continuously.
Named for the prolific 18th-century mathematician Leonhard Euler, e wasn’t invented by him, but he popularized the symbol and revealed just how deeply it runs through mathematics. If something grows in a perfectly natural way — money earning continuously compounded interest, populations expanding without sudden jumps, radioactive decay, heat diffusing, or even probabilities stacking up — e is usually backstage running the show.
For guinea pig mathematicians, the classic case study is this: one pig whispers there’s impending lettuce. The news spreads — not in tidy pairs, but in a smooth, accelerating wheek. One wheek becomes several, then many, then the entire herd wheeking their little heads off with exponential anticipation! That elegant curve of escalating wheeking excitement? Pure e.
Of course, the mathematical calendar is delightfully full. Guinea pig mathematicians also observe:
Pi Day – March 14 (3.14) - coming soon to a pigloo near you
Tau Day – June 28 (6.28)
Fibonacci Day – November 23 (1-1-2-3)
Square Root Day – when the date looks like 4/4/16 perfection
Twin Prime Day – November 13 (11/13, twin primes only two apart!)
So if you happen to see your more quantitative pigs staring thoughtfully at a chart of Bitcoin adoption, compound interest, or even the projected growth curve of global gold ETFs, don’t panic. They’re not day-trading from the hay rack ... unless they have your account numbers and their own Starlink. Hmmm ... better check the cage ...
Wheek! Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeek!
