As we all know, there is NO GUINEA PIG EMOJI! 😡 And so, every guinea pig owner is forced to make do with the nearest available rodent... the 🐹 hamster. No offense to hamsters, of course, but asking a guinea pig owner to use a hamster emoji is like asking a cat lover to use a lion, or a horse owner to use a donkey. They're simply not the same animal!

What makes this even more frustrating is that this wasn't merely an oversight. A proposal for a guinea pig emoji was actually submitted years ago by two intrepid guinea pig enthusiasts in 2020 to the Unicode Consortium—the organization responsible for deciding which emojis become part of the international standard.

Despite the fact that guinea pigs are among the world's most popular companion animals, the proposal was ultimately rejected, and no detailed public explanation was given beyond the Consortium's normal evaluation process.

So, to this day, millions of devoted cavy servants must continue sending 🐹 while quietly whispering, "Pretend it's a guinea pig."

Our cavies deserve better. They have their own language, their own personalities, their own holidays, and an entire army of loyal humans. Surely they've earned one tiny emoji.
