Egyptology Day

🏺✨ Ever want to be an Egyptologist, Piggies? It’s Egyptology Day! 🐹 🥕 🥕 🥕 🥕 ✨🏺

𓂀 📜 Brush up on your porcelli-hieroglyphs! 🐫🔎

On this day in 1822, Jean-François Champollion announced his breakthrough in deciphering Egyptian hieroglyphs—a discovery that opened up the written world of ancient Egypt and helped give birth to modern Egyptology.

Ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs used hundreds of signs—some representing sounds, others words or ideas—to record everything from royal achievements and religious texts to the details of everyday life.

Of course, guinea pigs were native to South America and thought to be completely unknown to the ancient Egyptians. But recently anartifact has been discovered that seems to hint otherwise ... officially translated we have the earliest known Pharaoh Guinea Pig proclamation 👑 🐹:

“I am a small rodent. I am hungry. Give me food—bread and lettuce—O man, or I will cry out loudly.” 🥖🥬😤📣

or more succinctly:

“WHEEK! VEGETABLES. NOW.” 🐹🥬🥕🫑🏺𓂀 😆

Well ... anything is possible.
