Waterfowl Day

Even Guinea Pigs want to get into the mix for World Waterfowl Day! 🐹 💙 💚 🖤 🦆 🦆 🦆 🥕

“If it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck… it probably wants snacks.”

In honor of our feathered fowl friends today, "get your ducks in a row" (or your piggies in a line) for the classic children's game, Duck, Duck, Goose! But let your guinea pig play too! Put all the guinea pigs in a circle and put a single mini carrot in the center. Vegetable mayhem is sure to ensue!

Duck, Duck, Goose is a traditional circle-and-chase children’s game with roots in Europe, especially Germany, where a similar version called “Ente, Ente, Gans” was played centuries ago. The game spread through Europe and later to North America with immigrants, becoming a playground staple because it needs no equipment and is easy to learn. Closely related versions existed across Scandinavia, Britain, and continental Europe, all built around rhythm, surprise, and a sudden chase.

In the Americas, players usually say “duck, duck, goose,” though parts of the Upper Midwest still play “duck, duck, gray duck,” using colour adjectives before choosing the chaser.

DUCK, DUCK, GUINEA PIG! 🤪
