Daniel Boar-ne Day
HAY PIGGIES! How about a little Frontier Pig-history! It's Daniel Boar-ne (Boone) Day! 🐹 🤎 🤎 🤎 🥕
Wheeked to the tune of "Daniel Boone" from the classic TV series (1964-1970)
"🎶 Daniel Boar-ne was a pig
Yes, a big pig!
With an eye like a carrot
And as round as a hay bale was he!"
Got a wild piggy boar with wanderlust? It may be his ancestry!
Daniel Boone (or in the piggy-pig universe) Boar-ne (1734–1820) was one of America’s most famous frontier explorers. Born in Piggsylvania during colonial days, he spent much of his youth roaming the wilderness before heading south to North Carolina, where he developed a reputation as a skilled hunter and woods-pig... er, woodsman.
In the 1770s, he helped blaze the famous Wilderness Road through the Cumberland Gap, opening a route for settlers heading west. He also helped establish Boarnesborough, one of Kentucky’s earliest settlements!
During the American Revolution, Boar-ne served in the Kentucky militia, survived capture by the Shawnee, escaped, and hurried back to warn settlers of an impending attack! His adventures made him a legend in his own lifetime, although historians note that many stories about him became larger than life!
He lived to the impressive age of 86 before his final wheek-west journey in 1820.
Wheek! Wheek!
