Many guinea pigs enjoy the tart sweetness of fresh cranberries. Some go wild for them; others give the classic “how dare you” face. This may remind you of some of your guests at your next holiday feast.

Both loathed and loved, cranberry sauce is for many the culinary equivalent of a Christmas fruitcake: a foodstuff whose absence is sorely missed, even if guests aren’t particularly enthusiastic when it actually appears.

Although many people have special recipes for candied, citrusy, spicy, and brandied varieties, cranberry sauce may have inherited its less-than-stellar reputation from its mid-century modern canned form of wiggling, jiggling cranberry jello.

If all else fails, a mini-trebuchet is very fun for launching blueberrie, cranberries, or other mini tasty projectiles to or even from the cage!
