October is that magical time of year when sewing lovers everywhere look at a perfectly innocent piece of fabric and think:

“I could make a Halloween costume out of that.”

And just like that, the dining table has disappeared beneath fabric, thread, pins, patterns, scissors, elastic, interfacing, six rejected ideas and a seam ripper that was RIGHT THERE a minute ago. 🪡

For Halloween costume makers, October is especially dangerous. Big aspirations and not enough time.

Of course, guinea pigs make excellent sewing assistants.

They can sit on the pattern.
They can chew the pattern.
They can run away with the measuring tape.
They can test whether the fabric is edible.
