It's not even Hump Day, but Camels still get their own day of celebration!

Called the "ships of the desert," camels are the heavy-duty freight trucks of the animal world. A strong camel can carry up to 1,000 pounds, stroll 100 miles in a day, and still find enough energy to break into a sprint at about 12 miles per hour.

And then there's camel milk—the traditional Bedouin beverage. It's gaining fans around the world because it contains more potassium, more iron, less lactose, and about three times the vitamin C of cow's milk.

As for dessert? If you've ever thought, "I wish my ice cream had more camel in it," you're in luck. Specialty creameries now produce camel milk ice cream in a variety of flavors.
