California Poppy Day

It’s California Poppy Day, Piggies! 🐹 🧡 💛 🧡 🏵️ 🏵️ 🏵️ 🥕
Do you have a piggy who enjoys traveling and seeing the sights? Posting on Pigstagram?
Many piggies are posting these days from California, visiting the superblooms of California Poppies on its official day of recognition!
Wheeked to the tune of "California Girls: by the Beach Boys, or their session singers, the Beach Boars (1965):
“🎶 Well East Coast piggies have hips, I really dig their fluffy hair
And the Southern pigs with the way they wheek, they knock me out when I’m out there
The Midwest piggies popcorn high in the cornfields such a sight
And the Northern piggies on their fluffy fleece, they stay cozy all through the night ❄
I wish they all could be California pigs … "
Well, guess what… you CAN get yourself a California pig—or at least a guinea pig with a Californian attitude and fur colouring (NorCal or SoCal). 😎 🌴 🐹
The "Californian" guinea pig breed is a bit of a rare beauty:
✨ A pale, creamy or golden body
✨ Dark “points” on the nose, ears, and feet
✨ Usually dark eyes (with the occasional lighter variation 👀)
✨ A gentle, curious, sunshine-loving personality ☀️🥕
Another rare beauty is the the California poppy (Eschscholzia californica)! It has been the official state flower of California since 1903 and grows naturally across much of the American West—especially California, but also into Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, and beyond.
One of the most famous places to see it? The sweeping orange hills of the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve — where, in a good year, thousands of acres bloom at the same time!
Strike a pose for that selfie, piggy!
