Wag a Tail Day

It's "Wag your Tail" Wednesday! 🐹 🤎 🤍 🤎 📚 🐕 🐶 🐾 🐾 🐾

If you and your piggy are in a book club, today is a great day to read an inspiring story of the special bond between humans and animals (tailless or not)! Here's a true "tale of a tail" that your piggy might enjoy because today is historical Greyfriar's Bobby Day, a tale of a special dog.

Bobby, a little Skye Terrier, became a symbol of devotion when he faithfully guarded his master John Gray’s grave in Edinburgh’s Greyfriars Kirkyard from 1858 to 1872. Despite the chill of Scottish winters and the passing of time, Bobby’s steadfast presence reminded the world of the unbreakable bond between humans and their canine companions.

His devotion did not go unnoticed, and in 1867, Bobby was awarded a collar inscribed by the Lord Provost of Edinburgh as a token of his remarkable loyalty (and to escape the dogcatcher).

Today, a small fountain statue of Bobby, erected in 1873, stands near Greyfriars as a tribute to his unwavering heart with a drinking fountain for people and a lower one for dogs. The story of Greyfriar's Bobby has made its way into story, books, film, and even video game nods and is a timeless reminder that true love knows no bounds.
