Giovanni Battista Ruoppolo

Giovanni Battista Ruoppolo(b Naples, 1629; d Naples, 1693) was a Neapolitan still-life painter. He specialized in pictures of flowers and food (especially fruit and seafood), depicted in an exuberant and succulent style. With Recco he was the finest Italian still-life painter of his period. His nephew Giuseppe Ruoppolo (d 1710) painted in his style but was much less accomplished.
