(1690-1730)

Angelo Maria Crivelli (active 1690-1730) trained in the tradition of Flemish and Italian painters who specialized in depictions of farmyard animals, such as Paul de Vos, Jan Fyt, Melchior de Hondecoeter, Jan Weenix, Giovanni Agostino Cassana, Anton Maria Vassallo, and Baldassarre De Caro. He maintained a very active workshop together with his son Giovanni, known as Il Crivellino.

Their production focused primarily on the depiction of animals, particularly game, poultry, fish, and still lifes or scenes of living animals. His works enjoyed considerable success: from 1750 onward they were already recorded in the inventories of numerous Lombard collections, such as the Arese collection in Milan and the Carrara collection in Bergamo.
