Angelo Maria Rossi
17th century
Angelo Maria Rossi was an Italian Baroque still-life painter active in Lombardy during the second half of the 17th century. Although his exact birth and death dates are unknown, he is documented as working between approximately 1665 and 1701. His paintings, once attributed to the mysterious “Pseudo-Fardella,” are celebrated for their rich realism, dramatic lighting, and finely detailed depictions of fruit, vegetables, fish, and game, reflecting the influence of Caravaggio and the Lombard naturalist tradition. Rossi’s identity was only firmly established in the early 21st century through the discovery of his monogram on surviving works
